2024-2025 Budget

2024-25 Budget NSW Australian dollars with calculator, pen and magnifier

“The government’s own figures show increased revenue and increased debt – they are spending more, just not on those who need it the most - mums and dads, seniors and young people just trying to get ahead. They will be left to continue battling to pay for everyday essentials like rent, electricity, health, and food. “

“Today’s budget highlights NSW Labor is increasing Land Tax on businesses while slashing support for the Low-Income Household Rebate, the Gas Rebate Scheme, and its Seniors Energy Rebates. This is on top of axing the Regional Seniors Travel Card and the Regional Apprentice and University Travel Card.”

“I am relieved that this Budget retains and supports local major projects including the Albury Wodonga Regional Hospital, a new Thurgoona primary school, and the Albury Project. It is concerning though that the completion date for the hospital upgrade has been pushed out by 2 years to 2030.”

“At a time when our community urgently needs this much-needed health upgrade, further delays are a real blow. I urge the NSW Government to reveal why planning and subsequent construction, initially touted to be completed by 2027, is not running to plan.”

“Similarly, while funding for a new school in Thurgoona remains in the budget, there is still no timeframe for when building works will commence.”

Mr Clancy has welcomed confirmation funding for the Albury Project, will be extended for a further 12 months. The project, operated by Yes Unlimited, supports young people respond to factors in their lives that could increase their chances of becoming homeless or leaving school early.

“I will continue to work positively with the NSW Government to see these local projects keep progressing and that the Albury Electorate gets a fair share of funding under regional programs.”
