September 23, 2025Crimes Legislation Amendment (Youth Crime) Bill 2025
Today I spoke on the Youth Crime Legislation, as it is an issue that that is increasing across NSW. The Bill is aimed at repeat offenders who commit serious indictable offences.
I recognise the need for a two pronged approach. Firstly, it is important provide youth the correct wrap around support programs and networks that are available within their communities. As it is easier to support the boy, than to rebuild the man.
I am strong believer and advocate of providing youth with the correct, and appropriate support.
Secondly, the need for clear sanctions for breaking the law. We need to have clear boundaries, that are respected, and ensure the community is safe.
