GRANDPARENTS ARE GREAT IN THE ALBURY ELECTORATE

Member for Albury Justin Clancy announced it’s time to say a big thank you by nominating your Local Grandparent of the Year in the Albury Electorate.

They are the smiling faces that light up their grandkid’s worlds and they are the helping hand for parents.

Mr. Clancy said the Local Grandparent of the Year Awards are a highlight of Grandparents Day on Sunday, 25 October.

“There’s no denying it’s been tough on our grandparents this year with COVID-19 meaning they have had to isolate more than most to keep themselves safe,”

“That means they haven’t been able to see their family members as much but they have still been there for us on the phone and via video calls whenever we need them.” Mr. Clancy said

“Grandparents Day is the perfect opportunity to show grandparents just how much they are loved and appreciated.

“We have some truly inspiring grandparents in the Albury Electorate and it would be great to see them honoured.”

The Local Grandparent of the Year winner can be nominated for the big gong which is the NSW Grandparent of the Year Award.

Acting Minister for Seniors Geoff Lee said grandparents are often the glue which holds families together.

“It’s been a tough year with COVID and isolation so let’s celebrate all the good things that our grandparents do for our families and communities,” Mr Lee said.

“The love, care and support grandparents give is something we should all cherish.

“Grandparents Day is the perfect time to shine a spotlight on these special people and give them the recognition they deserve.

“I ask everyone to pick up the phone and call their older loved ones. Let’s put a smile on our grandparents’ faces this Grandparents Day.”

Nominations close at midnight on Sunday 20 September, 2020.
