My Community Project

I am writing, as one of the first actions of my role as your Member for Parliament in NSW, to let you know of a new grant opportunity for funding for organisations in the Albury Electorate.

Called ‘My Community Project’, the program is funded by the NSW Generations Fund to provide money towards community projects which focus on improving participation: from the arts and sport, to the environment, accessibility for all, and good health.

Funding applications can be for as little as $20,000 or as much as $200,000 (although a smaller amount could prove more successful in most cases as the money has to be shared around the electorate).

The money can be put towards a diverse range of objectives, including: new building work, maintenance, website development, marketing hosting an event or exhibition, purchasing or modifying a vehicle or equipment, research, filming and more.

You will need a simple budget and a sponsor who is responsible for providing financial and project management expertise. Think carefully about your choice of sponsor, whether it is your local council, a charitable organisation, an Aboriginal Land Council, TAFE, a school and more.

In the end, a list of projects is voted on by our community broadly. Funding will follow the order the projects are rated by the community.

Guidelines and a timetable can be found at https://static.nsw.gov.au/MCP/Accessible-documents/1551823538/My-Community-Project-guidelines-Accessible.pdf

Applications have opened just this week and close 15 May.

For more information phone 13 77 88 or email mycommunityproject@dpc.nsw.gov.au. You can also go to the Service NSW Centre at 520 Smollett St Albury.

This is a great opportunity – best wishes to all of you.
