Yesterday evening Parliament debated the concerns of regional communities around consultation associated with transmission & renewables infrastructure; brought on by my colleague, the Member for Northern Tablelands, Brendan Moylan.
This Motion was not supported by the Minns Government in its original form, with the first Government speaker describing regional concerns as “political opportunism”.
In an opportunity to speak, I raised the proposal for wind turbines on Yambla Range/Table Top as an example of the real concerns for families who live, work, and invest in our regions.
Regional communities are not opposed to renewable energy. But they are opposed to being shut out of decisions that profoundly affect their landscape, amenity, and livelihoods.
