ALBURY VEHICLE SANITISATION STATION EXTENDED INTO 2021
Taxis and hire vehicles, including rideshare, will continue to have access to improved Covid safety measures with the free vehicle sanitisation station in Albury to operate well into 2021.
Member for Albury Mr Clancy said the initiative to help keep drivers and passengers safe during COVID-19 has been a success and will be extended to the end of March 2021 to keep cross border communities protected and moving.
“More than 1000 vehicles have been sanitised and 20 people employed since the sanitisation station opened in Albury in July 2020,” Mr Clancy said.
“We know this service has played a big role in giving border communities confidence in the safety of point to point transport services.”
“This builds on the measures we’ve already put in place to create a COVID-safe transport network so people can get out and about and enjoy all the region has to offer”
“All point to point transport, taxis and hire vehicles as well as community transport are eligible for the complimentary service up to twice a day.
“Vehicle sanitisation generally takes no longer than seven minutes and provides disinfection of high-touch areas like outside and inside door handles, window controls, headrests and payment terminals.
“Clean-up kits are also available for point to point transport service providers to help keep drivers and passengers safe during COVID-19.”
Drivers are also encouraged to do spot cleans in between sanitisation as they continue to deliver their essential service to the community.
NSW Government vehicles including NSW Ambulance, Police and Health vehicles are also eligible for the sanitisation service to support the needs of our most vulnerable passengers.
The pop-up vehicle sanitisation station, located in the Albury Station, coach facilities is open between 7am and 7pm Monday to Saturday until the end of March 2021.
Service providers who are unable to obtain clean-up kits from the vehicle sanitisation station are able to order from the Point to Point Transport Commissioner Industry Portal.
