NSW-Victorian Border to Open 23 November

The announcement from the Premier today is very much welcomed.

 

This has been a challenging time for our community on both sides of the border, for employers, for all who have struggled with work, health, schooling and childcare decisions.

 

Our community has been thrust into the front line of defence for several months and has acquitted the task well.

I acknowledge that the opening of the border cannot come soon enough, and that the final few weeks are in themselves a challenge.

 

There will be ongoing traumas for many of our community and in particular those in tourism businesses and I recognise their need for our support.

 

I want to take this opportunity to thank all those involved – our NSW Police, the ADF, Service NSW for their work, and again our community for the way they have responded to the Police and ADF Operation.

 

I thank you all for your continuing patience and good grace under pressure this year.

 

Remember to take care of your family and your community, as we are entering a new phase of fighting the spread of the virus, with no vaccine yet at hand.

 

Keep up your good practices, of sanitising, maintaining social distancing and getting tested.

 

This is a time for our families and community to reunite as we prepare for Christmas.
